FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Hino Receives Certification for EPA ‘07 Compliant Engines

Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, September 26
, 2006 Hino Trucks announces receiving Certification of Conformity from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for all of their 2007 model year engines, adhering to stringent EPA standards of emissions reduction being introduced for all on-highway heavy duty diesel engines in the up-coming year. Hino Trucks will start producing its 2008 model year trucks in the 1st QTR of 2007 at its Long Beach, CA assembly plant.

“We are pleased to have met the challenge of producing cleaner engines while still maintaining our competitive edge in fuel economy and engine performance”, said Nick Vermet, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Support of Hino Trucks. “Hino Trucks supports the actions taken by the Environmental Protection Agency to reduce the emissions by medium and heavy-duty trucks. By utilizing the same technology used in Japan to meet Japan’s stringent emissions regulations, we are able to provide our U.S. customers with a cost effective, proven solution. We have produced over 16,000 medium duty trucks utilizing this technology, and have estimated those vehicles to have accumulated over 160,000,000 miles of real life experience”.

Hino Trucks is the fastest growing truck brand in North America and the largest retailer of medium and heavy-duty trucks in Japan for over 34 consecutive years. Hino introduced emissions changes in May 2005 in compliance with Japanese requirements for tighter NOx and PM levels, thus allowing Hino to get a jump on the commercial applications used in its J-series engines for the U.S. market.

The Hino 2007 engine family consists of the JO5D-TF 4-cylinder and the JO8E-TV & TW 6-cylinder engines available in two horsepower ratings. Hino is recognized worldwide for their innovation in engine design, combining high-pressure common rail fuel injection, variable geometry turbocharger design and cooled EGR for emission control.
